LATEST NEWS:

Update from Claudette, one of our volunteers:

I went out today and went through a lot of dog food, but most of the dogs I have been feeding look a lot better than when I started. I also brought a dog into my vet today that had a big hole in her side from a dog fight. My vet believes that she is going to have puppies as well. I just removed 9 of her puppies about 4 weeks ago, and took them to the SPCA as I had no where to take them to, and now she will have more puppies.

The dogs are packing up out there and hurting other dogs; some have been killed by the packs. [There are many un-owned dogs needing homes and daily feeding. R.B.]

There are several litters of puppies being born this winter, and unfortunately I have not been able to get to them in time and many have died. Now I have the feeding down to an art, and most of the dogsare getting one good meal during the week. [In one area; there are still many areas where dogs are not being attended to. R.B.]

I have been taking the injured in. We need to get to the puppies and remove them quickly so they don't freeze. [The moms probably need nourishment and taking in as well. R.B.]

We need others to help out with finding the puppies or younger dogs and getting help for them. I know I'm making a difference there, but I know we could be doing more.

Kathleen from Leduc, has just come on board with K9CAR. She has offered to help feed the dogs, and transport food and dogs. She has kindly offered to keep the freezing puppies for a couple of weeks for their quarantine period before they go to foster homes.

We need foster homes please!! When the pup is adopted, you receive the fee to recover part of your costs.

Several dogs with porcupine quills were recently helped. Special thanks to Claudette, a faithful volunteer. Here are some pictures of dogs that were helped:
