K9 Care And Rescue Home Page

Welcome to
K9 Care and Rescue...

We are a group of volunteers dedicated to improving the welfare of hundreds of dogs in an Alberta First Nations reserve, where we have noticed a great need for assistance.  We are educating dog owners, providing dog houses, arranging veterinary care, fostering stray or unwanted dogs, finding them new homes, and feeding as many dogs as possible.  Please join us in our attempts to save and care for these dogs.  You can help by making your business a donation drop off location, raising awareness by telling others about us, becoming a volunteer or driver, donating to the Barrhead Veterinary Clinic, adopting, fostering and donating items.

Please visit our UPDATES page.

Emergencies:

  • New puppies have been born!  They are roughly 3-4 weeks old.  A foster home is needed as soon as possible for litter rearing!  The runt has a growth on his neck that is making it difficult for him to feed.  Please let us know if you can help cover the expenses for him.
  • We need a Fundraiser Coordinator.
  • An indoor quarantine area is required as soon as possible.  We need a holding place for dogs in a place with no other pets for dogs coming into our care.  While they are being quarantined, they will receive vaccinations and any necessary medical treatment.  They will need to be kept apart from other animals for up to 14 days.  If you can offer a warm place (home, heated garage or shop, extra indoor kennel away from other animals) to us consistenly or even briefly, please let us know as soon as possible here.
